"failure does not exist, it is only an inverse success"- Zuppka
I don't know, failure might not be so bad, but what it does to someone's psyche is quite damaging. But what I did realize is that fear of failure isn't bad. In fact fear of anything, in moderation is okay, even beneficial.
I was reading this non-fiction book called the innocent man, by John Grisham. It's an amazing depiction of the corruption in a small town's police force, and how because of them many people were and still are wrongfully convicted. Some of you might have heard of Ron Williamson who was exonerated in 2001 [I think] after serving 13 years on death row, and many more in jail before that for allegedly killing a young woman.
But anyway, tying that back to fear. Ron Williamson [or maybe it was Dennis Fritz, another exoneree who was charged for the same crime] said, when he first went to the state prison fear was an asset. At first people are fearful of their inmates and watch their backs constantly, in time they forget that fear and step into dangerous situations. He vowed never to lose that asset.
Maybe sometimes fear can be a motivating factor of sorts. It makes you work harder to avoid the things you fear.
Most importantly, fear allows you to be human.
