I generally agree with you, but I don't on the motivations on some of the soldiers. They aren't fighting for freedom. They are the people who grew up playing Call of Duty, and can't distinguish between the pixels on the screen and the people in front of them. The goal is to kill as much as possible, because that's the point of the game. They are also probably generally sociopaths.
I'm not going to school so I can get a job, I'm in school so I can learn. My parents won't like hearing this, but I don't have a plan. I don't have an endgame. What I mean is I don't picture a sort of secular heaven. I don't have an image of what the perfect life will be. It just is.

re: soldiers. it was just an example. I know it doesn't apply to all or even many of the individuals.
and, I don't think any of us are going to school, and getting a degree for 'today'.
