Hi certainepic.
I am the Supervisor of Parks in this district and your e-mail was passed along to me. I fully support your idea to paint the picnic table behind your school, especially if you think that it will decrease the amount of graffiti on it.
Thanks for being a positive influence in your community and bringing your idea to our attention. IF you need anything from myself or my staff, please let me know. We are always happy to help out groups of people who are trying to make some positive changes!

I am really looking forward to doing this, it's keeping me away from my homework. But school can wait, this is real life serious business.
In other news: I am doing a write up on Voltaire right now and I really like his philosophy and views.
'One must cultivate his own garden'. I think I like his criticism of optimism because personally I think happiness and optimism are to some degree are blinding and they handicap your creativity and productiveness. sometimes.

but then again, I still believe in love at first sight, nothing's impossible

No offense, but you don't paint that well.

I think you should let ME draw comics all over it.

...psych!

I'm proud of you, this is going to be cool. =]

There was a reference to Voltaire in the Star this morning. There was an article titled "Cultivate Your Garden" or something.

Personally I don't like Voltaire much, especially the part about cultivating your own garden. He was saying that you shouldn't worry about anything, just about your garden. That's certainly taking a narrow view of things, and destroys the concept of intellectual growth. Just cultivate your garden, because that will keep you happy. I couldn't be happy like that.

I think in context his philosophy of ignoring intellectuality is justified. Although maybe he meant it as a total rejection and abandonment of it, there still needs to be a balance. Sometimes when your mind is overworked and you get caught in the philosophical side of life it's detrimental to your psyche. my interpretation is that immersing yourself in something, a physical act of skill or productivity that will provide you with tangible results is beneficial for your sanity. and it's that fusion of you with your work that provides you with satisfaction and contentment.
