This year's theme for art's night was 'ish'. Based on the name of a children's book by peter Reynolds.
We sort of took inspiration from Charlie And the Chocolate Factory and for table decorations we had paper table covers, and crayons and playdough so people could make there own 'ish' drawings and sculptures.
We opened with an enactment of the story, I personally love the story. and I think the first performances were Haley's then Grace's solos. Those were probably my favourite of the night, maybe because all the drama plays I had more than a couple of times already. For the most part I was sitting with Mr.L and Tolton, and she was annoyed because there were some big technical difficulties. But other than that it went fairly well.
Most of my friends were there, some were part of it, some won awards.
Hala got the Photography award.
Ziska got Senior Art History award
and Sharon got the senior 2D award.
The teachers in the Art's department are so devoted to promoting arts and encouraging there students to always go a step beyond, I think without them the art students at our school would have no place.
It was a really special night, I haven't had that good of a time in awhile. It was nice to see all our hard work come together. And more than the actual event, someone told me afterwards how proud they were of me, and then another person: that I could make change. It meant a lot.
When Tolton looked straight at me and told me that she would miss me next year, that's when it hit me that she won't be there next year. Over the past two years she has been so much more than a teacher to me, and thinking about all that made me tear on stage. I am really going to miss her.
I felt really blessed that night.
