So, today I attended the Critical Thinking Through Arts conference.

I was really excited for this, because I thought I would be able to meet other students who were passionate about music or art or drama, or learn something about how to voice myself through art. Something deep, meaningful etc. In that sense it was a big disappointment.

In the morning we had a guest presenter, Dwayne Morgan, whose a spoken word artist, he did pieces about Toronto violence, HIV and women's bodies; The Sum of Her Parts, it's on his myspace.
Then we went to a generic session which was meant for us to discuss our identity and identify our common ground etc. It was poorly conducted, and the teachers from the other schools talked way too much, which didn't give the students much chance to interact. Then we had lunch, the veggie course was gross, it was a vegetable sandwich with just roasted bell peppers and cucumbers. The second session was cool, it was more focused on a particular area of art, I went to the one where they combined music and visual arts. We created prints with inspiration from any song.

And then we hung out with Ms.Tolton and Brett, the art teacher from John Fraser.
