christmas and hobos.

Christmas:

although, i don't celebrate it.
i love it all.
the fake trees.
the corporate gimmicks.
the long lines, and wait on Christmas eve.
the carols.
the parties.
the cheer.
the mood.
the lights.
the Christmas assembly [quite a show, it was]
I love Santa too, that fat jolly white man.
The frenzy of it all, is quite amazing.
but that of course, i say as an outsider.

Ottawa:

Just got back home.
I believe i will be living in Ottawa in about 1.5 yrs.
my dad works there currently, so we take a few trips.
there was a lot more snow there. on either side of the sidewalks there was a wall of snow.
it was quite like walking in a winter wonderland.

last night i went to the hospital my dad works at.
hospitals are quite a scary place. I don't like the smell.
BUT, none the less I ran around like crazy.
then "chilled" in the staff room and stole the Christmas chocolates.
there is a news store in the hospital, it had newspapers from like EVERYWHERE.
one of them had a sub-label "the leading newspaper for people over 50."
it made me laugh.
I am sure it advertised Viagra.

I wouldn't mind living in Ottawa.

There is a hobo that "works" on a certain street, three days a week.
Or so my dad said.
I am hoping, if i go there in summer, I can befriend him.
[consider that one of my summer goals]
hopefully he doesn't take vacations.

So yesterday Oscar Peterson died.
Didn't really know who he was. Never knew he was a pianist.
I am sure he was a good man.
May his soul rest in peace.

p.s. Merry Christmas.

You didn't know who Oscar Peterson was?!

Why are you going to be living in Ottawa in 1.5 years? Planning on going to school there? My cousin who goes to university there is here today in my grandma's house. She has a mac, too! My dad works away from Toronto, too. He works about three hours north of there, which isn't cool, but it has to be done. He doesn't live near any big towns.

And don't worry. I'm as much of an outsider for Xmas than you are.
